The Workforce Development department at SCC is looking for qualified individuals to fill the Part-time Faculty: Electricity/Electronics role. This position involves teaching courses related to the Electricity and Electronics certificate and degree programs, encompassing both lectures and practical labs. Class schedules may vary, including daytime, evening, or Saturday sessions, based on departmental needs. Appointments are made on a semester-by-semester basis as required.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering instructional content and hands-on training in the following areas. The selected individual will design and implement training that adheres to industry-standard practices in Electricity and Electronics.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The chosen candidate must exhibit a strong understanding of contemporary practices in Electricity and Electronics Theory, along with relevant hands-on experience in the industry or educational settings. They will be expected to develop methods for evaluating student learning outcomes and promote effective learning in both classroom and laboratory environments.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree coupled with a minimum of five years of experience, a Journeyman Electrician License, or a relevant certificate in Electricity and/or Electronics.
- At least one year of instructional or training experience within the last decade in Electricity and Electronics or related industries.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative abilities.
- Capability to maintain confidentiality.
- Flexibility to work varied hours as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics from an ABET-accredited institution, or a closely related field, or a Master Electrician License.
- Graduate coursework in Electricity/Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related discipline.
- Three years of instructional/training experience along with three years of industry experience within the last decade in Electricity/Electrical Engineering and Electronics or a related field.
- Experience in an academic environment.
- Preferred certifications include EIT, PE, CTP, PgMP, CSEP, PLC, SCADA, CEM, CAD, or similar credentials.
