Job Title: FHARPS Certified Peer Specialist

Community House Mental Health Agency is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate FHARPS Certified Peer Specialist to join our Diversion Services team.

Job Summary:

The FHARPS Certified Peer Specialist will serve as an advocate and provide peer support services to individuals in our community who have been deemed not competent to stand trial. This role requires a strong understanding of recovery principles and the ability to model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist individuals in articulating their personal goals and identifying problems and barriers for recovery.
  • Determine objectives needed to reach recovery goals and develop strategies to achieve them.
  • Teach individuals how to identify and combat issues such as negative self-talk and fears.
  • Assist in setting up and sustaining self-help groups and provide housing assistance and support when requested.
  • Model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies and utilize personal recovery experience to role model the value of recovery.
  • Develop and share recovery-oriented material with other Certified Peer Counselors.
  • Review daily logs and documents after each shift and communicate with other staff members of any emergency situations.
  • Chart relevant daily interactions with clients and assess their progress.
  • Attend all relevant seminars, meetings, and trainings.
Qualifications:
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
  • Legible handwriting and ability to read and comprehend agency/client charts.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record in order to use agency vehicles.
  • Completion and graduation from the Washington State Peer Counselor training or approval by Health Care Authority.
  • Experience working with the target population or ability to acquire specialized training.
