We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Specialist to join our Mobile Response Team at the Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC). As a Peer Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing crisis intervention and recovery support services to individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health, and substance use disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Crisis Intervention and Response: Provide timely outreach services to individuals in crisis, assessing their needs and linking them to relevant services and resources.
- Recovery Support: Work collaboratively with clients to establish and implement recovery plans, providing ongoing support and guidance to help them achieve their goals.
- Team Collaboration: As a member of the Mobile Response Team, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of professionals to provide comprehensive services to clients.
- Documentation and Data Collection: Maintain accurate and timely records of client interactions, services provided, and outcomes.
- Community Engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with community providers and resources to ensure seamless access to services for clients.
- Lived Experience: Have lived experience as a consumer of behavioral health services (mental health and/or substance use treatment) or be the parent or legal guardian of a child who has received behavioral health services.
- Certification: Ability to obtain Certified Peer Specialist certification from the Washington State Peer Counselor Training Program within 60 days of employment.
- Driving Requirements: Ability to drive an agency or personal vehicle to conduct agency-related business, with a current Washington State driver's license and insurable driving record.
- Cultural Competence: Possess cultural humility and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including individuals who are Black, Latinx, Native American, Alaska Native, Pacific Islander, LGBTQIA, and other groups who face discrimination and barriers to healthcare access.
