As a Peer Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals with mental health conditions, helping them to achieve their recovery goals and improve their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Peer Support: Offer one-on-one support and guidance to individuals with mental health conditions, helping them to develop coping strategies and improve their mental health.
  • Facilitate Group Sessions: Lead group sessions to promote social connections, education, and support among individuals with mental health conditions.
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Teams: Work closely with healthcare teams to ensure that individuals receive comprehensive care and support.
  • Advocate for Clients: Advocate for clients' rights and interests, ensuring that their needs are met and their voices are heard.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement: Contribute to quality improvement initiatives to enhance the overall quality of care and services provided.
Requirements
  • Lived Experience: Have lived experience of mental health conditions or be a parent or guardian of a child with mental health conditions.
  • Certification: Obtain Certified Peer Specialist certification from the Washington State Peer Counselor Training Program within 60 days of employment.
  • Communication Skills: Possess strong communication and writing skills to effectively interact with clients, healthcare teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Flexibility: Be willing to work flexible hours as required by program and staffing needs.
