Vertical Launch System Maintenance Technician II

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Vertical Launch System Maintenance Technician II to join our team at Chenega MIOS SBU. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in refurbishing canisters for the US Navy fleet.

Responsibilities
  • Support quality, productivity, and process improvement initiatives
  • Adhere to a high standard of housekeeping
  • Complete painting tasks using conventional spray guns
  • Read and apply paint formulas
  • Prep, prime, and mask for refinishing
  • Operate a forklift to move equipment
  • Properly handle company tools
  • Apply imaging decals (stencils)
  • Complete work order documentation
  • Execute repairs without direct supervision, following Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Interim Secret clearance required on day one, with ability to obtain and maintain over contract life
Requirements
  • Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of HAZMAT program operations
  • Communication and supervision skills
  • Efficient use of orbital sanders (DA)
  • Overhead crane experience a plus
  • Strong background in welding (MIG, TIG, ARC), fabrication, painting/respirator, general mechanical repairs, and commercial/military Material Handling Equipment
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to follow written/verbal instructions
  • Proper use of standard hand tools and material handling equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and maintain a driver's license
  • Physically fit with full use of arms, legs, and back
  • Ability to maintain required training and certifications
  • Ability to use computers to search/generate information using Microsoft
  • Ability to travel 20-30% to CONUS/OCONUS locations
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
