Role Overview

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As an Engine Technician II, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the success of our reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform hands-on maintenance and modifications to engines, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Design, build, and maintain ground systems, test, and launch facilities across multiple locations.
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop and implement design concepts and improvements.
  • Conduct inspections and testing of flight hardware and instrumentation systems.
  • Review and follow test procedures and processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Operate test facilities and ground support equipment, ensuring safe and effective use.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and flight avionics systems, identifying and resolving issues promptly.
  • Travel to test sites to support mission requirements, working closely with teams to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Safely work with hazardous chemicals, cryogenics, and high-pressure systems, adhering to strict safety protocols.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team or as an individual contributor, contributing to a culture of inclusion and respect.
Requirements
  • 3+ years' experience in aerospace/aviation engine testing, high-performance engine testing, or a production-driven environment.
  • Experience using electronic work order systems and ability to gain access to Redstone Arsenal.
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate, with a proven track record of working with mechanical systems, high-pressure fluid/pneumatic systems, or valve components.
  • Ability to follow schematics or electrical diagrams, use calibrated tooling, and work on and around cryogenic systems.
  • Experience with fluid fittings, lifting 50 lbs, and working in adverse weather conditions.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with production on launch vehicle processing for flight operations, including launch and recovery ops, rocket and/or crew capsule system maintenance, integration, and test.
  • Experience working high-pressure gaseous and cryogenic systems related to rocket engine testing.
  • Test stand experience working combustion or dynamic systems.
  • Experience in an electrical trade, fabrication, or A&P license, Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) certification, or training.
