About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Specialist II - Space Systems to join our Safety, Quality, & Mission Assurance team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and quality of our space systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes to support products in development and production test and launch environments.
  • Approve and perform visual and dimensional inspections to ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Develop and conduct compliance surveillance assessments to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Analyze and report on assembly/test activities and trends to drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop actionable metrics to drive sustainable improvement and lead Root Cause Analysis/Corrective Action Board activities.
  • Facilitate solving of quality issues with diverse teams and lead causal analysis activities to drive to root cause and corrective action.
  • Monitor and assist in the performance of receiving activities and independently review, identify, document non-conformances against hardware, material, and processes.
  • Participate in test/flight data reviews and participate in all life cycle reviews (TRR, FRR, MRR, and PFDR).
  • Develop and lead Pre-Ship Review activities and support field sites with Quality Engineer activities as needed.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a B.S. in engineering or 5-8 years relevant experience in the engineering field performing the duties of a Quality Engineer.
  • Quality Assurance experience in development and production environments in the areas of aerospace, space launch, military, or commercial aviation.
  • Knowledgeable on user documentation, system configuration, and assemblies.
  • Familiarity performing AS9100 or ISO9001 audits within a Quality Management System.
  • Ability to support test and launch operations for non-standard shift as required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Quality assurance experience in rocket engine production or test environments.
  • Relevant experience in transitioning a product from development, through production, to operations.
  • Quality Management System audit experience.
  • Six Sigma Green, Black Belt, or comparable certification.
  • ASQ CQE.
