Your Responsibilities

We are seeking a qualified Automation Engineer. This full-time, on-site role is vital to the success of our pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. The Automation Engineer will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of automated systems and equipment. Candidates should possess a robust background in Siemens automation technologies.
  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions and control systems for manufacturing equipment and instrumentation, including facilities/utilities, manufacturing lines, autoclaves, lyophilizers, and QC instrumentation.
  • Prepare detailed design specifications for automated systems.
  • Assist in the commissioning of new automated systems.
  • Support the startup of equipment and controllers (PLCs, HMIs).
  • Create and maintain SCADA systems.
  • Develop and configure PLC programs, integrating and troubleshooting various automation hardware components as necessary.
  • Support programming and troubleshooting of variable frequency drives (VFD).
  • Integrate new equipment and processes into existing automated systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure equipment is operational, including remote team members for integration tasks.
  • Conduct thorough testing, simulation, and validation of automation systems to guarantee optimal performance.
  • Effectively troubleshoot and modify control systems for enhancements.
  • Implement PLC Ladder Logic modifications to meet production requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on automation systems.
  • Identify and resolve potential issues, implementing process optimization opportunities.
  • Proactively recommend upgrades for various systems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of automation systems, change controls, and maintenance activities.
  • Manage historical databases and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in automation engineering within the pharmaceutical sector.
  • Experience with Siemens automation systems is essential.
  • Familiarity with Allen Bradley systems is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in configuring control systems, PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand specifications and develop control systems independently.
  • Strong technical and mechanical background with hands-on experience in pharmaceutical equipment.
  • Solid understanding of industry regulations and compliance (cGMP, FDA, ISO).
  • Effective project management skills to drive deliverables and assess risks.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management capabilities.
