About this Role:

We are seeking an experienced Safety and Training Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, administering, and evaluating the effectiveness of our safety program. This includes ensuring compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, as well as developing and conducting training classes and programs in various safety and environmental health areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform ergonomic evaluations of employee work settings and make recommendations to resolve any problems or issues identified.
  • Lead safety and environmental incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans.
  • Develop and coordinate training classes and programs in safety and environmental health areas.
  • Review documentation of safety training conducted in departments to ensure mandated safety training requirements are being met.
  • Participate in the departmental Safety Committee and review safety accident investigations to determine root cause and mitigate risks.
  • Create safety-related reports, including Cal/OSHA mandatory reports, and work with sections to implement workplace/operational/equipment modifications to resolve safety problems.
  • Maintain detailed records, including locations and inspections of potentially hazardous areas or materials.
  • Stay up-to-date with state and federal legislation and regulatory changes and make recommendations accordingly.

Requirements:

  • Three to Five years of experience in occupational employee health and safety.
  • Background in electrical utility, telecom, and/or construction highly preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulations applied within the industry as they relate to employee health, safety, and site control.
