The Respiratory Care Practitioner Specialist plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in the Emergency Department at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. This position requires a strong foundation in respiratory care principles and equipment, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Responsibilities- Conduct patient assessments and develop plans of care in collaboration with the healthcare team
- Provide and evaluate general and basic patient care, including respiratory therapy and oxygen administration
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to deliver comprehensive patient care
- Follow hospital policies and procedures for handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment
- Graduate of an A.M.A.-approved two-year School of Respiratory Care
- Three years' experience as a RCP II in a neonatal/pediatric ICU
- Current RCP license from the state of California
- Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the NBRC
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications
- Current or within 6 months of hire Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty Credential (NPS) from the NBRC
The Emergency Department at Children's Hospital Los Angeles is a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The Respiratory Care Practitioner Specialist will work in a 41-bed tertiary care facility with an annual volume of nearly 80,000 visits. The patient population served ranges from neonates to adolescents with complex medical conditions.
