Respiratory Care Specialist

As a Respiratory Care Practitioner II, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in adult intensive care, pediatrics, and med/surg units. Your primary responsibilities will include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating respiratory therapy care and life support for patients with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies and abnormalities. You will work closely with physicians and nursing staff to ensure seamless patient care and provide life support services, oxygen therapy, medical gas therapy, pharmaceutical treatments, chest physiotherapy, and blood gas draws.
Essential Responsibilities:- Uphold Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.
- Apply philosophy and demonstrate knowledge of the Patient Bill of Rights, treating members, coworkers, and individual employees with respect and dignity.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to medical records and communication guidelines.
- Provide ventilatory support during patient inter-intra hospital transfers and perform procedures for disinfecting and sterilization.
- Participate in patient care rounds as an active member of the critical care team and collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to ensure effective patient care.
- Perform blood gas analysis, document and report critical values, and maintain quality control of equipment.
- Respond to emergencies in all areas, including cardiopulmonary and neonatal resuscitation, and auscultate lungs to ensure proper endotracheal tube placement.
- Identify contraindications for chest physiotherapy and provide recommendations to physicians.
- Collaborate with the physician and nursing staff to determine the appropriate frequency of suctioning for assigned patients.
- One (1) year of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in adult intensive care, pediatrics, and med/surg.
- Graduate of an approved 2-year Respiratory Care program accredited by the Respiratory Care Accrediting Board (RCAB) or Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
- Respiratory Care Practitioner License (California) from National Board of Respiratory Care.
- Basic Life Support and Registered Respiratory Therapist Certificate.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification (PALS).
- Must have sleep credentials SDS OR CPSGT OR RPSGT.
This is an on-call position, and days and hours may vary.
