Respiratory Care Specialist

Children's Hospital Los Angeles is seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Care Practitioner Specialist to join our dynamic Emergency Transport Team. As a critical member of our team, you will provide advanced respiratory care to neonatal, pediatric, and critical patients during emergency transport.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver advanced respiratory care to neonatal, pediatric, and critical patients during emergency transport.
- Perform procedures such as endotracheal intubation, needle thoracotomy, umbilical vessel catheterization, and intraosseous line placement.
- Collaborate effectively with medical teams while working independently when required.
- Adapt to changing environments including ground and air transports, following safety protocols.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in tertiary PICU, NICU, or CTICU.
- Graduate of an AMA-approved respiratory care program.
- Possess a valid Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license from the state of California upon hire, with additional licenses from Nevada, Hawaii, and Arizona to be obtained within one year.
- Must hold the Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist (NPS) certification.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
- Certified Neonatal Pediatric Transport (C-NPT) certification to be obtained within one year.
Physical Demands:
- Able to stand, sit, walk, and climb for extended periods.
- Ability to perform static pushing, pulling, and lifting using proper body mechanics.
- Capable of lifting 45 pounds from floor to waist and 24 pounds from floor to overhead.
- Must wear special footwear, uniforms, and head protection during all transport missions.
Additional Requirements:
- Current weight must not exceed 226 pounds when wearing full flight suit and steel-toed shoes.
- Weight will be measured upon hire and quarterly thereafter, in compliance with FAA regulations for helicopter flights.
Hours:
Full-time hour Nightshifts am with variable days.
Pay Scale Information:
USD $72, USD $124,384.00
CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry.
Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
