Respiratory Care Specialist

At Adventist Health, we are committed to providing exceptional patient care and promoting wellness in our community. We are seeking a skilled Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner to join our team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Job Summary:As a Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing basic and critical respiratory care services to neonates, adults, and geriatric patients. You will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement respiratory care plans, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.
Responsibilities:- Assess and document the appropriateness of prescribed therapy for patients receiving respiratory care services.
- Provide and monitor conventional ventilation and High Frequency ventilatory support to premature infants in the NICU by protocol.
- Assist in department record keeping and operation, as well as participation in training and supervision of new employees.
- Document care given, maintain records of treatment, and generate necessary documents for charges or record keeping.
- Perform pulmonary function tests, drainage procedures, and provide additional patient care regarding cardio-respiratory disease.
- Provide suggestions regarding patients' treatment and pulmonary progress.
- Provide assistance in cardio-respiratory rehabilitation and instruction to patients and family in the nature of cardio-respiratory disease and its ramifications.
- Maintain and process equipment and products used in providing respiratory therapy services.
- Serve as a knowledge resource to physicians and hospital staff in relation to the technical aspects of respiratory care and the effectiveness of methods to administer safe respiratory therapy.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor's): Preferred
- Master's Degree: Preferred
- Three years' technical experience: Preferred
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential and Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license: Required in CA and HI
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification: Preferred
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification: Preferred
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification: Preferred
- Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) certification: Preferred
