Power Systems Analyst

TealEnergi is seeking a knowledgeable Energy Analyst to support our client's strategic initiatives in the power sector. This role is essential for ensuring the effective management of energy resources and financial forecasting within a major privately owned power enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and enhance analytical tools and methodologies to meet departmental objectives.
- Oversee project management tasks, including energy budget formulation and feasibility assessments for generation assets.
- Engage with senior management and cooperative members to communicate findings and recommendations.
- Lead modeling efforts using Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) systems to predict energy production costs and assess capacity expansion implications.
- Conduct comprehensive analyses on energy costs and environmental impacts, utilizing data from various sources.
- Employ spreadsheet and database software to create robust analytical frameworks and prepare documentation for regulatory bodies.
- Assist in the preparation of corporate and member energy budgets, collaborating with fellow analysts to finalize deliverables.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to gather necessary data and support their analytical needs.
- Deliver professional presentations and reports to stakeholders, addressing inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
- Perform additional tasks as required to support the department's objectives.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Research, Economics, Statistics, or a related discipline. An MBA or progress towards one is advantageous.
Experience:
- 3-8 years of experience in electric utility generation planning, including familiarity with production cost models and financial forecasting.
- A Master's degree with 1-2 years of relevant experience may be considered equivalent.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of finance, accounting, forecasting, and engineering principles.
- Proficient in generation planning forecasting, power system operations, and electric utility rate-making.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities are essential.
- Proficiency in Excel and experience with PowerPoint are required.
