The Lithium Resources team is tasked with managing our current resources and discovering new ones to enable Albemarle's strategy as a leader from mine to market, ensuring a sustainable future. Team members collaborate across various geological and engineering disciplines, including exploration, grade control, mine planning, metallurgy/process, environmental/permitting, economics, and community engagement.

We are currently seeking a **Senior Resource Exploration Geologist** to join our **Lithium Resources team**.

This hybrid role involves travel (up to 25%) as necessary across North America.

In this capacity, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing a portfolio of exploration targets, including unclaimed land and potential junior partnerships.
  • Providing timely and high-quality geological insights for exploration partnership agreements.
  • Educating the organization on both internal and external lithium opportunities.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate strategic and critical thinking, the ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and a proactive approach to enhancing geology and exploration initiatives. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing internal and external exploration programs for technical integrity, ensuring they meet minimum progression standards.
  • Acting as a technical liaison during meetings and data reviews with exploration partners.
  • Developing strategic and tactical opportunities for Albemarle's resource expansion in North America.
  • Continuously enhancing Albemarle's understanding of lithium pegmatite formation, including identifying research opportunities.
  • Reviewing global opportunities as needed, collaborating with technical professionals worldwide.
  • Supporting the technical development of all Albemarle staff, from junior exploration geologists to senior presentations.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Travel within North America up to 25% of the year, as required.
  • Curate prospectivity maps of North American lithium pegmatite potential, identifying early-stage resource growth opportunities.
  • Prepare technical reports on both external and internal lithium opportunities.
  • Engage with exploration companies, providing technical reviews and coordination during partnership discussions.
  • Collaborate internally with other stakeholder groups as the subject matter expert on exploration potential.
  • Evaluate internal and external exploration data for lithium pegmatite potential, recommending projects for advancement or termination.
  • Monitor market trends and communicate their potential impact on the lithium resource acquisition landscape.
  • Enhance exploration capabilities within the company through collaborative demonstrations, including technical reviews, presentations, and workshops.
  • Prepare materials for inclusion in company presentations and memorandums.

**Qualifications**

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Geology.
  • A postgraduate degree in Geology is highly regarded.
  • At least 10 years of experience in exploration and mining, with direct experience in lithium pegmatites preferred. Experience in greenstone-hosted gold or nickel exploration is also valued.
  • Experience with exploration partnership agreements.
  • A strong commitment to safety and health in all planning and execution aspects.
  • Extensive exploration geology experience with a focus on mineral systems thinking and direct detection techniques applicable to lithium pegmatites.
  • Experience in structural geology and its applications to field mapping and targeting.
  • Proven ability to evaluate lithium pegmatite prospects.
  • Proactive monitoring of external market movements and understanding their potential impact on exploration and resource acquisition.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, particularly in collaborative technical communication.
  • A proven problem solver with leadership, mentoring, team-building, and motivational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with Maptek Vulcan, Leapfrog Geo, or other modeling software.
  • Participation in annual internal and external budget project reviews.
