Overview

We are on the lookout for a highly skilled Lead Cloud Platform Engineer to become a vital part of our Cloud Operations team at Zoom. This role presents a remarkable chance to leverage your software engineering skills and enthusiasm for platform development to build an exceptional internal platform that enhances innovation and efficiency across the organization.

Team Insight

The Cloud Operations team at Zoom is tasked with the development and enhancement of our Cloud Foundations Platform. Our mission is to empower development teams to effectively provision and manage resources within our diverse cloud ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect, develop, and sustain our Cloud Foundations Platform.
  • Design and implement scalable automation solutions for resource provisioning and management across various public cloud services.
  • Encourage a culture of self-service by creating user-friendly interfaces and APIs that allow development teams to interact seamlessly with the platform.
  • Utilize software engineering best practices, design patterns, and architectures to ensure the platform remains modular, maintainable, and adaptable.
  • Incorporate DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to guarantee the platform's reliability and performance.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the developer experience by simplifying complex processes and reducing cognitive load.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment focused on knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Engage in technical discussions, conduct code reviews, and collaborate with other teams to ensure integration and alignment with the broader Zoom ecosystem.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, emphasizing platform development and cloud infrastructure.
  • Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, with a strong understanding of infrastructure automation principles and advanced programming skills in Python.
  • Experience with DevOps methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems like Git.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and incident management, including after-hours support for application releases and deployments.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, along with orchestration platforms.
  • Expertise in designing and developing internal platforms and tools that streamline operations and enhance development workflows.
  • Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability solutions for cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and working in iterative environments.
