Job Summary and Qualifications

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Nursing Faculty - Clinical to join our team at Galen College of Nursing. As a Faculty member, you will be responsible for engaging in the full scope of the academic nurse educator role, including facilitating learning and learner development, using assessment and evaluation strategies, and participating in curriculum development and implementation.

Responsibilities
  • Effectively facilitate learning and learner development by creating an environment that fosters student learning and achievement of desired student learning and program outcomes.
  • Implement a variety of teaching strategies appropriate to learner needs, desired learner outcomes, content, and context.
  • Use information technologies and eLearning technology to support the teaching-learning process.
  • Provide resources to students that help meet their individual learning needs.
  • Serve as a role model of professional nursing.
  • Use a variety of strategies to assess and evaluate student learning in all settings (classroom, lab, or clinical) and all domains (cognitive, psychomotor, and affective) of learning.
  • Design and implement program assessments that promote continuous quality improvement of all aspects of the program.
  • Use the systematic plan for evaluation (SPE) to evaluate student and graduates achievement of the PSLOs, program outcomes, and role-specific graduate competencies of the nursing education unit, and the accreditation standards and criteria.
  • Continuously develop in the academic educator role by participating in professional development activities that increase socialization and effectiveness of the faculty role.
  • Function as a change agent and leader.
  • Act as a mentor to new faculty, as assigned.
Requirements
  • Active, Current, Unencumbered Licensure as a Registered Nurse in this state.
  • Minimum of a Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) Degree, Graduate degree in Nursing required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse and per State Board of Nursing.
  • Day, evening, or weekend classes may be assigned to Faculty as needed to accommodate student or College needs.
Physical/Mental Demands and Work Environment

This role requires mental activity, reading, planning, preparing, evaluating, and decision making. Physical demands in the classroom and office are minimal and are considered sedentary work with occasional lifting and/or carrying such articles as records, files, and books (10 pounds maximum). Operation of standard office equipment such as phone, computer, classroom projector, Scantron, and printer/scanner occurs on a frequent basis. Physical demands in the clinical area may include lifting, pulling, pushing, kneeling, stooping, crouching, bending, or any other related activity to patient care. Position requires regular attendance, and may require evening or weekend hours, and travel to clinical sites and extended classrooms.
