About the Position

We are seeking a highly qualified Senior Tenured Faculty member to join our School of Nursing at George Mason University. As a key member of our faculty team, you will contribute to the mission of the School through innovative and impactful education, research, and service.

Responsibilities
  • Teach across the curriculum, mentoring students and developing curriculum materials.
  • Mentor graduate and doctoral students in research projects, guiding them in their academic and professional development.
  • Engage in academic and professional service that advances the School's mission, participating in faculty governance and contributing to the academic community.
  • Develop and maintain an extramurally funded, independent research program, producing high-impact, peer-reviewed publications.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary collaborations, addressing complex healthcare issues and advancing the field of nursing.
Qualifications
  • An earned PhD (or equivalent research doctorate) from an accredited institution in nursing or a health-related field.
  • Expertise in effectively teaching in both undergraduate and graduate courses, with a strong record of student success.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and the wider academic and healthcare communities.
  • Excellent research skills, as measured by a record of extramural research funding and high-impact, peer-reviewed publications.
  • A sustained record of academic and professional service, with a strong commitment to advancing the School's mission.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Postdoctoral training or academic teaching experience as an adjunct or full-time faculty member.
  • Experience writing academic research grant proposals, with a strong track record of securing funding.
  • Expertise in acute care, medical/surgical, and psych/mental health nursing, with a strong understanding of current healthcare laws, policies, ethics, and economics.
