Job Title: Critical Care Part-time Clinical Nursing Faculty

Chamberlain University is seeking a part-time clinical nursing faculty member to teach in our BSN Nursing program at the Tyson's Corner VA campus. As a clinical nursing faculty member, you will be responsible for mentoring students in an inpatient clinical setting, where they will demonstrate nursing skills and procedures. You will work with adult patients with unstable emergent critical illnesses, and students will integrate nursing, technological, and scientific knowledge with clinical judgment to potentiate optimal health with a diverse patient population.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service to the College, community, health system, and profession.
  • Assume responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads.
  • Plan clinical experiences for and provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering nursing care to an individual or group of individuals.
  • Evaluate and provide documented feedback to students on level of performance based on course objectives.
  • Be available for remediation of students as required or needed.
  • Orient and maintain current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with the assistance of the agency/clinical personnel.
  • Develop and post written clinical assignments consistent with student's knowledge base, skill competency, and individual learning needs.
  • Correct and return homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork, and other written work in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of the programs and the College.
  • May teach didactic course content under supervision of course coordinator.
  • Keep course coordinator informed of all student and agency issues and concerns.
  • Work with college administration, staff, and other faculty members to improve the overall operation of the college and student satisfaction rates.
  • Participate in the implementation of the College Assessment Program, campus retention efforts, and both departmental and campus policies.
  • Serve as a professional role model for other faculty, staff, and students in the areas of customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence, dress, attendance, and general professionalism.
  • Utilize relationship skills in situations requiring group problem solving, consensus building, and win-win negotiation.
  • Comply with all applicable regulatory rules and standards.
  • Reports to the dean or assistant dean: a course coordinator will also provide direct oversight.
Qualifications:
  • A master's (MSN) or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • An unencumbered professional nursing license in Virginia.
  • BLS Certification is required.
  • At least two years professional experience within the last five years in the area of instruction as a registered nurse.
