ROLE OVERVIEW:
This role entails in-depth research and credit evaluation of intricate credit applications within the Commercial Real Estate sector. As a senior-level position, the individual is expected to possess extensive knowledge across various aspects of commercial real estate, including but not limited to credit and risk assessment, regulatory compliance, cash flow evaluation, project financials, valuation techniques, guarantor assessment, and market analysis. The incumbent will also collaborate closely with Commercial Loan Officers during client interactions and deal structuring. Additionally, mentoring less experienced team members and managing complex assignments will be key responsibilities.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Conduct thorough credit evaluations, prepare loan approvals, and perform annual reviews for new credit requests, as well as modifications and short-term extensions of existing loans.
  • Analyze cash flows, project financials, detailed property descriptions, market assessments, tenancy evaluations, property valuations, construction budget analyses, and personal financial statements of guarantors/sponsors.
  • Accompany Commercial Loan Officers on client meetings and contribute to discussions regarding the creditworthiness of proposed loan applications.
  • Engage in third-party research, including industry reports, personal credit evaluations, and real estate market analyses.
  • Generate reports and manage special projects as required.
  • Provide mentorship to Junior Credit Analysts.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics; MBA is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in credit underwriting for Commercial Real Estate.
  • Comprehensive understanding of underwriting processes, credit analysis, and commercial loan structures.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to identify strengths and mitigate risks.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial real estate lending, particularly in construction and permanent mortgages across various property types.
  • Proficiency in CRE lending metrics, including debt service coverage and cash flow analysis.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly with loan origination software and MS Office Suite (especially Word and Excel).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Capability to conduct meetings, engage with clients, effectively present information, and respond to inquiries from peers and management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • MBA is preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is primarily conducted in a standard office setting with moderate noise levels.
