Job Summary

Rumpke Waste and Recycling is seeking a highly skilled Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our hauling business. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring adherence to operating standards, developing supervisory goals and objectives, and managing labor hours and disposal expenses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Oversight: Manage the day-to-day operations of the location, providing leadership and support to managers to ensure quality and budget performance.
  • Budget Management: Monitor budget and operating metrics, diagnosing and improving processes, procedures, and performance.
  • Staff Management: Hire, train, and manage staff, including performance management, counseling, and safety.
  • Customer Relations: Interact with local, city, municipal, and county agencies to ensure customer satisfaction, improve efficiency, renew contracts, and negotiate new contracts.
  • Investigations: Conduct investigations for accidents, incidents, and property damage claims, completing accurate and detailed reports.
  • Equipment Management: Develop and implement programs for optimal equipment utilization, working with the maintenance department to monitor and improve fleet utilization, repair, and maintenance costs.
  • Financial Management: Approve expenses and manage budget for the operations department.
  • Goal Setting: Formulate short- and long-term goals and action plans with the Regional Vice President.
  • Team Management: Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with employees, co-workers, and management.
Requirements
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Windows and Microsoft applications.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize work and the placement of personnel, equipment, and material.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Frequently lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling a max of 20lbs, occasionally lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling a max of 50lbs, rarely lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling a max of 75lbs.
  • Environmental Conditions: Continually working inside and outside with changing temperatures, and wet/humid conditions.
  • Exposure to Hazards: Continually working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter.
Additional Requirements
  • Age: Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Driving Record: No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
  • Background: Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.
  • Travel: Ability to travel between offices, as required.
  • Availability: Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Language: Must be able to read and speak the English language.
