Job Title: Desktop Support Mac Technician

B&H Photo is seeking a highly skilled Desktop Support Mac Technician to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the hardware and software configurations on individual or group end-user levels.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in an IT role supporting Apple MacOS desktops, with a strong understanding of major computer components and installation requirements. They will also have experience with installation of major computer components and software, as well as knowledge of various operating systems such as MacOS, Windows, etc.

The ideal candidate will be an articulate communicator with a professional phone demeanor, detail-oriented, and a quick and analytical thinker. They will also have knowledge of B&H policies and procedures, as well as the ability to maintain the security of the macOS estate through security patches and best-practice configuration of macOS in-built security features.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop processes and procedures for desktop support
  • Researches, documents, and establishes requirements for software/hardware functionality
  • Receives requests through internal JIRA system
  • Installs and fixes advanced Mac hardware devices in the corporate and store locations
  • Configure, installs, and supports Apple computers, printers, monitors, portable data storage devices, and other general peripherals
  • Heavy emphasis on supporting Mac platform
  • Implements specific desktop and thin client computers with appropriate Mac/PC imaging
  • Interface and experience with JAMF to administer and support Apple devices
  • Maintain the security of the macOS estate through security patches, and best-practice configuration of macOS in-built security features.
  • Coordinates the implementation of companywide hardware or software deployments
  • Provide support for the deployment of Adobe CC and other Mac specific software for use by corporate staff
  • Maintain knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, and be able to offer support to users of these platforms as necessary
  • Maintenance of IT Lab areas, wiring closets, and storage rooms
  • Places orders and takes delivery of inventory as directed
  • Provide white-glove service for VIP's for all incidents, service requests, etc
  • Contribute current technical information and best practices concerning proprietary applications
Preferred Education, Experience, and Licenses:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an IT role supporting Apple MacOS desktops
  • Already certified or desire to become certified in MacOS, iOS and other hardware
  • Experience with installation of major computer components and software
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of various operating systems such as MacOS, Windows, etc
  • Understanding of major computer components and installation requirements
  • Understanding of resolutions to common software errors
  • Articulate communicator, and professional phone demeanor
  • Detail-oriented, and quick and analytical thinker
  • Knowledge of B&H policies and procedures
