Role Summary

Unique Opportunity

Compass Group is seeking a dedicated Sous Chef I to enhance our culinary operations. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in the success of our food program and oversee various culinary tasks. We are looking for a talented culinary professional who is detail-oriented, driven, and committed to delivering outstanding dining experiences.

As a Sous Chef I, you will engage in all facets of our food program, from menu planning and procurement to inventory oversight and food preparation. You will collaborate closely with the Senior Chef Manager to develop and implement menus that align with our client's cultural preferences and comply with health regulations, while upholding our high standards for food quality, freshness, and presentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and participate in the preparation and cooking of diverse food items
  • Assist in menu planning and development to ensure variety and customer satisfaction
  • Work with the marketing and culinary teams to introduce new culinary initiatives
  • Manage cost controls and expenditures to achieve financial objectives
  • Perform additional duties as necessary to support the overall success of the food program
  • Flexibility is essential, as this is a year-round operation
Qualifications

To thrive in this position, candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant culinary experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role
  • Experience in various food service environments such as restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, or healthcare
  • Flexibility to work in a 7-day-a-week operation
  • Knowledge of culinary trends, focusing on quality, production, sanitation, safety, and food cost management
  • Ability to create and distribute production sheets for efficient operations
  • Strong leadership, training, and coaching abilities
  • Preferred: ServSafe or Department of Health Certification
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Office, including Excel
  • Equivalent experience in Culinary Arts is acceptable, ideally with an Associate's degree
