POSITION SUMMARY

Bub and Grandma's is seeking a dedicated Culinary Supervisor for our bustling establishment.

The ideal candidate will possess significant kitchen experience, preferably with a background in supervising a large culinary team. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, along with a high level of organization, empathy, and a passion for the culinary arts, particularly in bread, pastry, sandwiches, beverages, and coffee.

This role demands a calm and composed individual who thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Experience in managing large teams and handling a substantial number of orders, including dine-in, takeout, and catering, is crucial.

The Culinary Supervisor will collaborate closely with fellow managers and team members to establish efficient systems for ordering, scheduling, inventory management, and culinary innovation. Additionally, this role includes overseeing the Porter team, addressing any dish room challenges, and participating in the hiring process.

This position reports directly to the Culinary Director, contributing to the enhancement of our culinary vision and supporting the back-of-house staff and operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a culinary leader alongside another supervisor, responsible for recipe management, dish development, process optimization, and inventory oversight.
  • Ensure consistency in product quality and output.
  • Supervise and assist BOH leads with ordering and inventory tasks.
  • Monitor sales and cost metrics, participating in management and financial discussions to improve production efficiency.
  • Coordinate regular maintenance and servicing of kitchen equipment.
  • Foster a positive work environment through coaching, support, and motivation, while also implementing disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Enhance operational efficiencies and improve the organization of kitchen and prep areas.
  • Perform additional related duties as required, in line with the responsibilities of the Culinary Supervisor.
  • Develop regular and seasonal menu specials.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience managing a team of at least 5 individuals.
  • Availability to work weekends.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Google Sheets/Excel, Adobe Suite, Toast Events/Catering, and 7Shifts is highly recommended.
  • Extensive knowledge of food, beverages, and the local restaurant scene, with a desire to expand this knowledge.
  • A thoughtful, intelligent, and compassionate communicator and leader.
