Communication Specialist in Speech Therapy

The Communication Specialist is responsible for designing and implementing speech and language interventions for a diverse group of clients at Hope Services. The focus of these interventions will be to enhance communicative autonomy. Some travel may be necessary to various locations, including residences and educational institutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate clients' communication abilities and develop tailored speech and language therapy plans based on specific objectives, delivered in individual, group, or educational settings.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team to establish and execute treatment objectives in alignment with clients' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) when applicable.
  • Keep comprehensive records and prepare written progress updates and treatment strategies as required.
  • Assess the necessity and type of augmentative communication tools, providing training and support to families, educators, and caregivers on their effective use.
  • Engage in continuous treatment discussions, as well as participate in team meetings and professional growth opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in speech-language pathology.
  • Licensed Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) or eligibility for Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
  • Competence in utilizing personal computers and relevant software applications.
