Position Overview:
We are seeking dedicated professionals for both PRN and full-time roles within our organization. Join a team recognized for its commitment to delivering exceptional care to patients and support to staff.

Reporting Structure:
Reports directly to the Director of Therapies.

Qualifications:
Must hold a valid license from the State of Texas and fulfill the criteria for the certificate of clinical competence in Speech-Language Pathology as set by the American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association, or
Be in the process of obtaining certification through the required educational and supervised experience.

Role Summary:
The Communication Specialist is responsible for assessing and re-evaluating rehabilitation needs and capabilities.

This role involves planning, executing, and overseeing therapeutic initiatives, including patient education and activities aimed at enhancing or restoring communication and swallowing skills.


Physical Demands:
Must possess visual and auditory abilities sufficient to understand written and verbal communication. Ability to work for eight (8) hours daily while engaging in driving, standing, sitting, and completing necessary documentation.
Travel Requirements:
Must have access to a vehicle with valid insurance and a State driver's license.
Flexibility Required:
Must be adaptable to changes in client status and needs, as schedules may vary based on client conditions.
Safety Considerations:
Potential exposure to infections from clients and risks associated with driving in various neighborhoods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments and re-assessments of patient communication and swallowing disorders using appropriate diagnostic methods.

- Develop, implement, and supervise personalized therapeutic programs aimed at improving daily communicative activities and addressing swallowing issues.


- Collaborate with the Administrator or designated professional to ensure the therapeutic plan is effectively executed and maintained.

- Educate and guide patients on techniques and exercises to enhance their swallowing and communication abilities.

- Train other agency staff and family members in speech therapy activities to ensure safe and effective patient support.

- Monitor, document, and report on patient responses to treatment and any changes in their condition. Maintain records of patient involvement in care decisions.
- Participate in case conferences to coordinate patient care plans and foster positive therapeutic outcomes.

- Engage in ongoing assessment and evaluation processes as required by the agency.


- Adhere to state regulations and maintain accurate documentation when supervising assistants or interns in speech-language pathology.
- Respond to communications within 24 hours.
