Job Title: IT Support Specialist

At Penn State University Talent Acquisition, we are seeking a highly skilled IT Support Specialist to join our team. As an IT Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing technical support to end-users, diagnosing and resolving problems, and maintaining existing components.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide customer service and technical support to end-users for hardware and software.
  • Diagnose, research, and resolve end-user issues in a timely manner through established protocol and troubleshooting; escalate as necessary.
  • Provide guidance and explain policies and procedures to end-users.
  • Communicate and translate technical information to non-technical end-users; maintain communication and monitor incidents through resolution.
  • Train customers on new devices and technologies.
  • Install, configure, and test installed hardware and software on new or existing devices in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Set up new equipment and devices; set up and maintain workstations; provide appropriate access to applications, systems, and data.
  • Utilize and maintain knowledge bases, white papers, FAQs, and vendor documentation.
  • Contribute to documentation of incidents, internal processes and procedures, maintenance of equipment, and training manuals.
  • Assist and interact with hardware and software vendors.
  • Participate in the maintenance, implementation, troubleshooting, and end-user support for applications, mobile devices, and servers.
  • Implement security policies and protocols for the department, college, and University.
  • Replace equipment that has reached the end of its warranty or lifecycle.
  • Assist in tracking and maintaining hardware and software inventory; interact with vendors.

Requirements:
  • Requires an Associate Degree or higher, plus four years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Penn State offers competitive benefits to full-time employees, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans, in addition to generous vacation time (18 days per year; accrued on a monthly basis), sick time (12 days a year; accrued on a monthly basis) and paid holidays (13 per calendar year).

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is: $51,000.00 - $74,000.00
