Job Overview:

In the role of a Field Application Engineer, you will play a pivotal role within a global technical network, delivering exceptional pre-and post-sales technical assistance to leading OEM and Tier 1 automotive clients across the Americas. Your efforts will be crucial in fostering demand generation and facilitating design-in initiatives at client locations, collaborating closely with business units that provide microcontrollers, microprocessors, and radar transceivers tailored for the automotive sector. You will leverage your technical acumen to support sales teams and engage with the technical community regarding challenges and future development plans related to ADAS radar solutions. Your ability to convey the value proposition effectively will be essential in enhancing our market presence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the integration and troubleshooting of 77GHz radar transceivers and radar processors within customer designs.
  • Utilize evaluation platforms, software, tools, and documentation to showcase that solutions align with customer application needs.
  • Provide in-depth technical expertise for design-in activities, which may require up to 50% on-site engagement.
  • Assist clients in evaluating silicon and software solutions.
  • Conduct software reviews for customer applications.
  • Perform hardware reviews for customer projects.
  • Collaborate with customer product engineering and quality assurance teams in product debugging and failure analysis.
  • Analyze and share insights regarding the competitive landscape.
  • Evaluate product offerings and strategies to aid in the creation of materials that highlight device/system-level advantages over competitors.
  • Work closely with Sales and Marketing teams on project identification and customer proposals.
  • Collect intelligence on customer product strategies and relevant silicon specifications, communicating findings to the appropriate product teams and technical community.
  • Contribute to the development of technical documentation for internal or customer use (Application Notes, Engineering Bulletins, Demos, etc.). Participate in trade shows and technical society events.

Qualifications:

  • Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience in automotive radar applications.
  • Experience with 77GHz radar technology is a plus.
  • Background in software development, systems engineering, or field application engineering.
  • Proficiency in general embedded programming using C.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB is desirable.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the Midwest region.
  • Occasional international travel may be required.
