Operations Production Supervisor

The Operations Production Supervisor will oversee the daily functions of the Medical and LMCO Defense product divisions. This role is pivotal in cultivating a skilled, energetic, and motivated cross-functional team. The supervisor will be accountable for enhancing safety, optimizing production efficiency, implementing technological advancements, fostering continuous improvement, and achieving cost reductions.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Champion and promote a safety-first culture within Spectrum Plastics Group.
  2. Direct the overall coordination, capacity planning, and assessment of all production machinery and team members.
  3. Provide daily operational support to meet departmental objectives related to safety, quality, timely delivery, waste reduction, efficiency, and cost savings.
  4. Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles to enhance both production efficiency and product quality.
  5. Investigate, identify, and deploy new technologies to elevate overall manufacturing processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Support the Vision and Mission Statement of Spectrum Plastics Group.
  2. Collaborate with Sales, Account Coordinators, Development Engineering, Maintenance, Shipping, and Planning teams to fulfill product commitments.
  3. Manage staffing processes including recruitment, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, compensation, transfers, and temporary staffing requirements.
  4. Foster an environment conducive to continuous improvement and facilitate team communication and morale.
  5. Deliver ongoing training to team members on the latest industry methods and technologies.
  6. Generate timely reports with comprehensive analysis of key production metrics and indicators.
  7. Ensure that tools and equipment are properly maintained and operational.
  8. Stay informed about emerging manufacturing technologies and recommend equipment that enhances operational efficiency.
  9. Align with the Sales Strategy to identify manufacturing requirements that exceed customer expectations.
  10. Actively engage in safety matters, rectify unsafe conditions, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
  11. Proactively devise and implement strategies that lead to continuous improvement and enhanced efficiency through methodologies such as Kaizen, 5S, and other Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensure departmental safety compliance with OSHA regulations, addressing unsafe practices, and conducting ongoing safety training.
  2. Oversee the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of all production activities and personnel, including weekend operations.
  3. Execute supervisory responsibilities in alignment with organizational policies and applicable laws.
  4. Responsibilities encompass interviewing, hiring, and training staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and resolving complaints and issues.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (B.S.) or a minimum of five years of relevant experience and/or education.

Strong problem-solving capabilities to identify, gather, and analyze information, develop solutions, and resolve issues promptly.

High accountability level, consistent with our policy of Promises Made – Promises Kept.

  • Experience with engineered resins in an injection molding processing environment, including Value-added CNC and Secondary Operations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit. Occasionally, the employee may lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The role may involve working near moving mechanical parts and exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and heat. The employee operates in a clean room environment and is required to wear gowns, hair coverings, and booties.

The noise level in the work environment varies, being loud in the molding area and minimal in the non-molding clean room.
