Technical Support Specialist

This role involves performing moderately complex analytical, technical, and administrative tasks in the planning, design, and implementation of both new and existing computer systems. The position is responsible for providing daily consultation, instruction, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for users regarding hardware, software, network, and related computer systems and devices.
Key Responsibilities- Install, configure, and ensure the optimal operation of all end-user hardware and software, as well as peripheral equipment and mobile devices, adhering to established standards.
- Monitor and respond to Service Center trouble calls, providing training to end users on equipment and software usage.
- Collaborate with customers to diagnose simple to moderately complex issues, apply solutions, and assist in identifying the necessary hardware and software to fulfill business requirements.
- Ensure seamless interconnectivity of end-user hardware, software, and associated devices with various systems, including file servers, email servers, and application servers.
- Create, execute, and troubleshoot simple to moderately complex scripts, batch files, or installation procedures.
- Conduct moderately complex troubleshooting across multiple technology platforms.
- Coordinate with technical staff and customers to identify and resolve client issues under the guidance of a technical lead.
- Review licensing concerns and perform software and hardware audits across the organization, providing compliance reports and assessments.
- Offer on-call support as required, available 24/7.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution, along with one year of experience in the installation, programming, and troubleshooting of computer hardware, software, or mobile devices, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Proficiency in all Microsoft Productivity products and knowledge of data networking, both wired and wireless, is essential. Experience with computer diagnostic tools is also required.
Preferred QualificationsPossession of applicable Microsoft certifications or A+ certifications is preferred.
Work EnvironmentThe Information Systems & Services department supports a large number of desktop workstations, utilizing software standards that include the latest Microsoft Office Suite Professional, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Outlook, and various industry-standard business applications.
Technical SkillsFamiliarity with programming languages and tools such as SQL, PHP, Oracle SQL, and PowerShell scripting is advantageous. Knowledge of database management systems, including Oracle and MS SQL Server, is also beneficial.
Operating Systems and NetworkingExperience with operating systems like UNIX, LINUX, and Microsoft Windows, as well as networking protocols and equipment, is crucial for success in this role.
