Position Overview

Key Qualifications:

A parent or caregiver with lived experience in managing behavioral health challenges. A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required, with a preference for bilingual candidates. Certification as a Peer Specialist is mandatory.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage in outreach and provide support to all families involved with the CCBHC throughout their journey, from initial contact to discharge.
  • Collaborate effectively with parents and legal guardians to advocate for their needs, assist in care planning, and foster a strengths-based interaction.
  • Deliver psychoeducation and skill development; contribute to the planning and execution of home visits.
  • Facilitate opportunities for family members to connect and support one another through group gatherings and activities.
  • Provide referrals to community-based support services to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Actively participate as a vital member of the CCBHC multidisciplinary team, contributing to family care planning and collaboration.
  • Complete essential accountability tasks, including maintaining accurate records.
  • Support administrative personnel in gathering data for program evaluation.
  • Engage in clinical supervision and professional development.
  • Demonstrate respect and positivity towards diversity.
  • Participate in all training sessions related to the Whole Family Health Model.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Familiarity with peer-based practices.
  • Adept at connecting with individuals experiencing mental health issues and/or substance use challenges.
  • Understanding of mental health, physical wellness, stress management, and local resources that enhance health and well-being.
  • Serve as a welcoming, supportive, and empowering representative of the program.
  • Exemplify a strengths-based, family-centered approach.
  • Commit to ongoing training to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Demonstrated dedication to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
