Position Summary:
The Employee Relations Business Partner (ERBP) plays a crucial role in aligning the objectives of the business with the needs of employees and management within specific units. This dual-function position supports both corporate employees and addresses escalated Employee Relations matters. The ERBP fosters partnerships across the HR spectrum to provide valuable services that align with the organization’s goals. A comprehensive understanding of the business unit's financial status, strategic plans, culture, and competitive landscape is essential. This role requires a strong background in Employee Relations across the United States, particularly with knowledge of California labor regulations.

Main Responsibilities:

Human Resources Business Partner Duties:

  • Support managers in executing their responsibilities related to personnel matters, including interpreting and advising on employment policies and guidelines.
  • Work alongside business leaders across departments to address complex organizational challenges, focusing on strategies for onboarding, retention, development, and compensation of talent.
  • Drive operational excellence initiatives, including talent reviews, workforce planning, performance management, and overall process enhancement.
  • Utilize People and Culture KPIs to provide informed guidance to the business.
  • Conduct regular People and Culture meetings with managers in designated areas.
  • Facilitate employee feedback sessions with management and assist in action planning.
  • Propose innovative approaches, policies, and procedures as part of ongoing improvement efforts.
  • Support staff development initiatives for corporate employees.
  • Engage in committees and special projects, seeking additional responsibilities as appropriate.
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.

Employee Relations Business Partner Duties:

  • Ensure thorough investigation and resolution of all Employee Relations cases within a designated timeframe.
  • Develop and implement strategies tailored for a significant population of non-exempt employees.
  • Collaborate closely with management and HR Business Partners on Employee Relations issues, including disciplinary actions and performance concerns.
  • Identify patterns and proactively address employee-related challenges; recommend and initiate resolutions in accordance with established policies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies that align with industry best practices.
  • Oversee the annual updates of the Team Member Handbook.
  • Work in conjunction with in-house legal counsel and management to identify trends and address concerns.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field; a master's degree or relevant certifications are preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in human resources, including at least two years in a business partner capacity.
  • At least three years of experience in conducting Employee Relations investigations.
  • Proven ability to manage and resolve escalated Employee Relations cases in a high-volume environment.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws and their application, particularly in California.
  • Strong project management skills and experience in program implementation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRM systems.
