Position Title: Program Director (MHRS Required / Licensed or Licensed Waived Preferred)
Programs and Location: CORE Marconi (Sacramento)
Employment Type: Full-time exempt, Monday-Friday, with potential evening and weekend hours
Compensation: $3, MHRS) / $4, Associate) / $ Licensed) paid semi-monthly

Key Responsibilities: The following duties are essential to this role:

  • Provide compassionate support to individuals through active listening and empathy, fostering a message of hope and recovery.
  • Implement and teach best practices in mental health recovery.
  • Observe, assess, and intervene in client situations related to mental health and substance use, within professional scope.
  • Ensure the safe and effective delivery of services to clients, adhering to established policies and standards.
  • Coordinate treatment plans with psychiatrists and other team members or community resources as necessary.
  • Keep direct report staff informed about relevant agency matters.
  • Act as a liaison with Sacramento County departments and funding sources to manage contracts and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation standards set by the agency and funding sources.
  • Support managers with personnel issues, following established policies and seeking consultation when needed.
  • Assess, train, and mentor direct reports, including interns and volunteers, to maintain high-quality services.
  • Oversee the review and evaluation of employment applications, conduct interviews, and make hiring recommendations.
  • Manage program budgets, recommending adjustments and ensuring adherence to financial limitations.
  • Provide after-hours support and crisis intervention as required.
  • Assist with organizational development, grant writing, and major projects.
  • Develop new procedures and policies as needed.
  • Act as a Mandated Reporter for suspected abuse or neglect of vulnerable populations.
  • Ensure accurate admissions and discharges in line with established criteria.
  • Protect the confidentiality of all Protected Health Information (PHI) by following HIPAA guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of four years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Three years of full-time experience in a mental health environment.
  • Expertise in the Medi-Cal billing system.
  • Knowledge of social rehabilitation principles and group work.
  • Familiarity with community organizations and resources.
  • Experience with individuals facing substance abuse challenges, particularly those with dual diagnoses, is preferred.
  • Understanding of 12-Step Programs and/or personal recovery experience is advantageous.
  • Experience as a consumer of mental health services or as a family member of a consumer is desirable.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must qualify as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist.
  • Possess a valid California Driver's License and current vehicle insurance.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid certifications within the first six months of employment.
  • Complete Pro-Act training and obtain certification within the first year.
  • If applicable, obtain 5150 designation within the first year.

Additional Skills and Requirements:

  • Ability to pass FBI and/or DOJ background checks.
  • Experience as a consumer of mental health services or as a family member of a consumer is desirable.
