Overview:

The Investment Accounting Analyst plays a crucial role within the Finance department, focusing on the investment accounting sector. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of the organization's investment strategies, accounting principles, and tax regulations relevant to a diversified investment portfolio in a private foundation context. The analyst will oversee the accounting of partnership interests and contribute to the enhancement of daily and periodic processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the accounting workflow, including daily banking operations, month-end closing procedures, and partnership financial statement analysis. This includes creating a quarterly project calendar for finance team members and effectively communicating deadlines to relevant departments.
  • Manage the Foundation's accounting software systems (InvestSQL and Outlook Soft) related to the partnership portfolio, ensuring customization for efficient internal reporting, audited financial statements, and tax documentation.
  • Coordinate the annual Federal Schedule K-1 project for partnerships, liaising with general partners to confirm availability dates for necessary returns and developing a data input calendar for the finance team.
  • Evaluate new technologies and software for suitability, assisting with system installations and upgrades, including resource scheduling and testing.
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and tax reports, refining existing report templates and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Support the maintenance of the finance department's investment accounting continuity program and assist with internal control testing and documentation initiatives.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Finance and Tax Director.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required; CPA certification or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam is preferred. A minimum of three to six years of finance-related experience is ideal, with public accounting experience being advantageous.
  • Proficiency in implementing accounting software and report writing, with the ability to create queries.
  • Strong professional judgment and accountability for decisions impacting service quality.
  • Effective planning and organization skills, capable of managing multiple responsibilities efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to synthesize information from various sources, assess situations, and devise logical solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in the manufacturing sector is essential.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all organizational levels, both internally and externally.
