Position Overview:

The Department of Corrections is actively seeking a dedicated Community Corrections Officer 2 (CCO2) to enhance public safety through effective supervision and accountability of individuals under our jurisdiction. This role is pivotal in fostering a safe reintegration process for supervised individuals into the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise individuals mandated to community supervision in accordance with state laws and agency policies.
  • Conduct thorough investigations, manage searches, issue warrants, and execute arrests as necessary.
  • Administer various assessments, including risk and needs evaluations.
  • Maintain comprehensive electronic and physical records related to supervised individuals.

Engagement and Intervention:
Utilize effective communication strategies to engage with supervised individuals, promoting positive behavioral changes through:
  • Motivational Interviewing techniques to foster intrinsic motivation.
  • Principles of Effective Interventions to manage behaviors and support rehabilitation.

Enforcement and Documentation:
Ensure compliance with supervision conditions and legal requirements by:
  • Providing accurate documentation and oral testimony in court proceedings.
  • Maintaining a proper chain of custody for evidence.
  • Adhering to departmental policies regarding safety and security while interacting with supervised individuals.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to carry and utilize a department-issued firearm.
  • Valid vehicle operator's license in the State of Washington.
  • Experience working with individuals with criminal backgrounds and managing challenging behaviors.
