Position Overview
We are in search of a proactive Accountant to become a vital member of our Property Accounting division. This role is essential for maintaining the accuracy of the general ledger, collaborating with various departments to comprehend their operational impacts on financial statements, and working alongside other teams within the Accounting Department to ensure the timely production of financial reports. The ideal candidate will possess a keen attention to detail, a proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively, and a passion for working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment that encourages innovation and process enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries (handling up to 100,000 lines simultaneously), conduct bank reconciliations (managing up to 10 individual accounts covering thousands of homes), and oversee balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Review balance sheets and income statements for accuracy.
  • Ensure adherence to month-end closing deadlines.
  • Collaborate with HOA, Leasing, Operations, and other business units to understand their contributions to the business and provide assistance as needed.
  • Engage with field teams and external partners to analyze financial results and deliver necessary financial review and analytical support.
  • Conduct both recurring and ad hoc analyses of financial outcomes, trends, performance metrics, and benchmarks to assess operational results and respond to inquiries from business leaders.
  • Assist with requests from external and internal audits (including SOX compliance and internal controls).
  • Participate in company-sponsored training and identify additional training opportunities to enhance knowledge of the single-family residential sector.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting and financial statement preparation is preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel is required.
  • Experience with Yardi is advantageous.

  • Regular and consistent attendance is essential; overtime may be necessary for this role.
Physical and Mental Demands
This position requires extended periods of sitting and using office equipment and computers. Occasional light lifting of supplies and materials (up to 20 pounds) may be necessary, along with reaching, stooping, standing, and walking. The role demands the ability to communicate effectively, analyze data, and coordinate tasks.
