Position: Property Accountant - Staff Accountant
A reputable Property Management firm is currently in search of a Property Accountant at the Staff Accountant level. This organization has established a strong presence in the industry over the past two decades. The selected candidate will manage a comprehensive range of accounting responsibilities, including complete accounting reconciliations. The key responsibilities include:
- Preparation of financial statements, which involves creating and posting relevant journal entries, as well as analyzing balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure precision.
- Conducting bank reconciliations for multiple entities.
- Maintaining strict adherence to effective internal controls.
- Managing Full Cycle Accounting for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and forecasting.
- Posting and preparing journal entries as necessary for month-end closing activities.
- Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts by identifying posting errors or omissions, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to guarantee accurate financial statement presentation.
- Overseeing cash management for the assigned portfolio, including various funding requests.
- Compiling and dispatching monthly joint venture financial packages to management.
- Assisting auditors during year-end financial statement audits.
- Preparing pro-ration workbooks for property transactions.
- Uploading and reconciling monthly activities in partner software.
- Supporting senior accountants in addressing partner inquiries.
- Providing training to on-site staff as needed.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related discipline is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Business Management Accounting is preferred.
- Familiarity with accounting principles and the ability to interpret financial statements is preferred.
- Knowledge of general ledgers, chart of accounts, and brokerage statements is preferred.
- Experience with mid-market accounting software, particularly in property management (Yardi, Great Plains, Sage, MRI, CCC, or VMS) is preferred.
- Experience in the multi-family real estate sector, especially in construction, is preferred.
- Proficiency in various accounting software systems, ideally Yardi.
- Experience managing multiple companies or properties.
