Position Summary
We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Accountant to enhance our Property Accounting team. This role is crucial in maintaining the accuracy of our financial records, collaborating with various departments to comprehend their financial implications, and ensuring the timely production of financial reports. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-volume environment that prioritizes innovation and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare comprehensive journal entries, manage bank reconciliations across multiple accounts, and maintain balance sheet reconciliations.
- Review financial statements for accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure adherence to month-end closing schedules.
- Collaborate with departments such as HOA, Leasing, and Operations to understand their financial impact and provide assistance as necessary.
- Engage with field teams and external partners to analyze financial results and deliver insightful financial analysis.
- Conduct both routine and ad hoc financial analyses to evaluate performance metrics and respond to inquiries from business leaders.
- Support external and internal audit processes, ensuring compliance with SOX and internal controls.
- Participate in training programs to enhance knowledge of the single-family residential sector.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline is required.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting and financial reporting is preferred.
- Intermediate proficiency in Excel is essential; experience with Yardi is a plus.
- Strong ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Analytical mindset with a focus on detail and problem-solving.
- Self-motivated and directed with a commitment to excellence.
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Ability to interpret and analyze financial statements.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proven track record of meeting goals and deadlines consistently.
- Professional appearance is expected.
- Regular attendance is essential; overtime may be necessary.
