Medical Assistant/Secretary

Full Time/40 Hours per week, variable 8 hour shifts between 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday
  • Friday Overview: Provides essential support to physicians or Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) in delivering medical services to patients within the practice.
Facilitates clinical and administrative tasks to ensure efficient daily operations of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Welcomes patients and escorts them from the waiting area to the clinical space, obtaining vital signs as necessary. 2. Manages patient registration, updates records, and processes physician charges to patient accounts. Confirms demographic and insurance details. 3. Performs clerical and administrative duties related to patient care, including documentation and transcription. Organizes and maintains patient charts. 4. Coordinates appointment scheduling for patients in the office, for diagnostic tests, or with other healthcare providers. 5. Ensures the examination area is tidy and well-stocked. 6. Prepares patients appropriately for their scheduled visits to maintain an efficient patient flow. 7. Conducts in-office tests as instructed by the physician and coordinates additional testing and ancillary services as needed. 8. Collects, prepares, and processes specimens as directed by the physician. 9. Monitors inventory and ensures proper maintenance, cleaning, and testing of medical equipment and supplies. Completes necessary logs. 10. Adheres to all compliance responsibilities associated with the role. 11. Upholds and exemplifies Nuvance Health Values. 12. Demonstrates consistent, reliable, and predictable attendance. 13. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Additional Information:

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED. Recent or experienced graduates of a Medical Assistant program, Nursing Assistant training, EMT certification, or those with 3 years of relevant experience in a medical office setting. Basic understanding of medical terminology and knowledge. Proficient in obtaining accurate patient vital signs.

Preferred Experience:

One year Desired:
CPR certification is preferred.

Language Skills:
Bi-lingual candidates are preferred. Salary Range:
