A Medical Assistant plays a vital role in providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. This involves caring for patients with acute and chronic needs, prioritizing their needs, and responding to emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities:- Provides basic clerical and office duties, including assembling documents and supplies, scheduling appointments, and maintaining medical records.
- Performs business and financial duties, including assigning procedural and diagnostic coding, conducting pre-authorizations, and facilitating timely billing.
- Recognizes and responds to emergency situations, prepares and maintains examination and treatment areas, and administers screening tests to patients.
- Assists providers with examinations, procedures, treatments, and interventions, and provides patient education as directed.
- Reports significant changes in patient condition or other pertinent patient information to the Physician.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or 1 year of Medical Assistant Experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Current national MA certification from one of the following national MA certifications or registrations: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) of AMT, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) of the AAMA.
