Job Description:
Job Objectives:
As a pharmacy intern graduate at Walgreens, you will provide pharmacy consulting services to customers regarding the effective usage of medications, awareness with drug interactions, and offering preventive healthcare services such as immunizations. You will be responsible for ensuring the proper compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications within regulatory guidelines, company policies, and procedures.
Supports the Efficient Workflow:
You will support the efficient workflow of the pharmacy and assist the pharmacy manager in identifying ways to optimize pharmacy financials, inventory management, and enhance customer experience.
Customer Experience:
You will engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. You will resolve customer issues in a timely manner and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience. You will model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
Operations:
You will counsel patients and answer their questions regarding the usage of medicine, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient information privacy, generics, less expensive medicines, over-the-counter products, and refer to medical providers as needed to ensure medication is taken correctly, health needs addressed, and satisfaction with service. You will perform pharmacist tasks, including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management. You will review, interpret, and accurately dispense prescribed medications when necessitated by workload.
People & Performance Management:
You will assist the pharmacy manager with staff hiring and training. You will reinforce the direction of the pharmacy manager in staff performance by coaching, providing constructive feedback, monitoring customer service, and fostering employee development. You will promote teamwork and motivate team members by establishing expectations, monitoring and recognizing progress, and fostering a shared vision.
Training & Personal Development:
You will maintain current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare by reading pharmacy-related journals, company publications, and communications. You will maintain awareness of developments in retail and management and pursue best practices that would enhance performance. You will obtain necessary certifications, education credits, and training as required by the company. You will seek professional development by monitoring your performance, soliciting constructive feedback, and leveraging the pharmacy manager and store manager as a mentor and coach.
Communications:
You will support the pharmacy manager and store manager by communicating relevant corporate health and wellness services or strategy information to pharmacy staff.
Requirements:
Willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited educational institution prior to the start date in position. Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure from the respective Board of Pharmacy in the states within the district within 90 days of hire per district guidelines. Experience performing prescription dispensing activities that demonstrate a strong working knowledge of applicable state and federal controlled substance laws.
