POSITION OVERVIEW
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic plays a crucial role in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy construction machinery and equipment. This position demands expertise in handling equipment under extreme arctic conditions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct thorough inspections of heavy machinery to identify malfunctions.
- Demonstrate proficiency with diagnostic tools such as CAT ET, Cummins INSITE, and Volvo Prosis.
- Execute repairs on after-treatment and electronic systems.
- Service and repair heavy construction equipment including bulldozers, cranes, dump trucks, and more.
- Adjust, repair, and replace components including engines, fuel systems, and hydraulic systems.
- Utilize hoists, hand tools, and pneumatic tools for disassembly and assembly of machinery parts.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as lubrication and oil changes according to established schedules.
- Operate machinery to assess performance and efficiency.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools and work areas.
- Manage inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Adhere to company policies and safety procedures.
- Promote a culture of safety and accountability in all operations.
- At least three (3) years of experience in industrial maintenance as a mechanic.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in the North Slope region.
- Possession of a valid driver's license is mandatory.
- Completion of North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training is required.
- Class A commercial driver's license with a valid US DOT medical card.
- Five (5) years of mechanic experience in industrial maintenance is preferred.
- Experience with diesel generators and mobile equipment is advantageous.
- Background in the oil and gas sector, particularly in arctic environments, is desirable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must be capable of meeting the physical demands associated with this role, including working in remote and harsh arctic conditions. A pre-employment Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to assess the candidate's ability to perform essential job functions.
