Are you passionate about orchestrating logistics and marketing initiatives for fundraising, outreach, and donation campaigns? The Helen Woodward Animal Center is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Development Specialist.

The Development Specialist will oversee the Pets Without Walls and Lewyt Mobile Pet Health + Wellness initiatives. Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, coordinating site visits, checking in clients, and meticulously tracking all data points for each visit to support grant proposals. The role involves driving and maintaining the mobile unit, as well as conducting outreach visits to promote the Center's mission, actively marketing and recruiting for program expansion, and organizing outreach events and activities.

Key responsibilities also include monitoring all volunteers and pets involved in outreach and events, submitting graphic and web requests, and generating content for social media, calendars, and the website to ensure the success of all initiatives.

The Development Specialist will assist in researching grants for potential funding sources and contribute to grant writing efforts. This role includes staffing annual special events and various donor recognition and cultivation programs, coordinating and implementing donor recognition and committee events, managing logistics and marketing for fundraising, outreach, and donation drives, and handling the Petty Cash account along with other administrative tasks for the Development Team as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS FOR DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST:


Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and possess a college degree. The ability to effectively present and articulate the mission, goals, and programs of the Center to potential donors through both written and verbal communication is essential. A solid understanding of the laws and legal requirements related to fundraising is required. Professionalism, tact, courtesy, and integrity are crucial when interacting with the Center's donors and prospects. Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail are highly valued. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team or independently. Some experience with animal handling is preferred, including the ability to work occasionally with dogs, puppies, cats, or kittens as needed.

As driving duties may be part of this position, candidates must possess a valid CA Driver's License and provide a recent DMV Driving Record.

Consistent attendance and punctuality are expected from all employees.
