MANAGER/SENIOR MANAGER OF ACCOUNTING

LM Recruiting Group is seeking a meticulous and motivated Manager/Senior Manager to join our Accounting team. This role will involve close collaboration with the Director of Accounting/Controller to oversee various accounting functions within our health insurance organization. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of accounting practices and relevant experience in the healthcare or health insurance sectors. We are looking for a highly organized individual with proven leadership skills and a history of enhancing processes. The primary objective is to ensure that the company's accounting and financial operations adhere to all regulatory requirements while delivering precise financial reporting and oversight. This position offers an opportunity to acquire new skills and contribute to a dynamic organization dedicated to making a positive impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain an accurate general ledger in compliance with federal regulations, including intercompany transactions and charges.
  • Evaluate transactions to guarantee correct revenue recognition and allocate records to the appropriate accounting period.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of intercompany transactions.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to facilitate precise and prompt financial reporting.
  • Supervise accounting functions for associated entities, including pharmacy, real estate, TPA, and administrative divisions.
  • Manage month-end reconciliations and ensure a timely closing process for designated entities and consolidation.
  • Investigate and document technical accounting matters for consolidated entities and subsidiaries.
  • Act as a liaison for external auditors regarding accounting processes and protocols.
  • Oversee IBNR and other insurance-related reserves and reinsurance issues, collaborating with the risk management team.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency by upgrading infrastructure and automating processes where feasible.
  • Establish and uphold internal controls.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable to ensure accurate identification and allocation of expenses across various accounts, including medical loss for quality improvement initiatives.
  • Implement process efficiencies and serve as the Netsuite administrator, enhancing accuracy and efficiency.
  • Work with the finance team to analyze discrepancies between actuals and budget/forecast.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of extensive experience in healthcare accounting is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in managing general ledger and sub-ledgers.
  • Experience in a start-up environment is advantageous; ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting is essential.
  • Familiarity with Healthedge/VBA or similar health insurance software is a plus.
  • Experience as an ERP System Administrator is required; Netsuite experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is required; MBA is preferred.
  • Experience with a Big Four firm or large regional firm is highly desirable.
  • CPA certification or progress towards obtaining a CPA is strongly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting is essential.
  • Ability to build cross-functional teams and excellent management skills, along with strong communication abilities.
  • Capability to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Willingness to learn and broaden skill sets.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
