Position Overview

The IT Customer Support Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing the user experience within the Digital Workplace department. This position requires a proactive individual who can effectively engage with business users to assess their needs and identify areas for improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with business users to evaluate their strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for enhancement.
  • Collaborate with various departments to implement new technologies, applications, and tools aimed at improving the overall IT user experience.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues promptly, ensuring clear communication throughout the support process and providing assistance to end-users as necessary.
  • Document and track all incidents and service requests using company-provided tools, guiding users through troubleshooting steps to resolve issues or escalate as needed.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, operating systems, and applications, including PCs, peripherals, and other IT equipment.
  • Keep local teams informed about upcoming activities and changes in the IT environment, working closely with IT groups to stay updated on initiatives and challenges.
  • Provide comprehensive documentation and knowledge transfer, including maintaining solution documentation and cross-training team members.
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic and take the initiative on various support projects, adapting to changing business needs.
  • Conduct both formal and informal training sessions for end-users on the use of applications and hardware.
  • Physically handle IT hardware, including servers and UPS systems, as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Valid driver's license with no restrictions that would impede driving a company vehicle.
  • Availability for callouts during evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a solid work ethic.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant IT experience.
  • Proficient troubleshooting skills and knowledge in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, IT infrastructure, hardware, software, and networking.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels, including business stakeholders and vendors.
  • A strong customer service orientation with experience in IT support; experience in the oil and gas sector is advantageous.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and maintain accurate records.
  • Capability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and contribute effectively within a team environment.
  • Experience in project management, with the ability to oversee projects and serve as a resource.
