About the Role

As a Residential Support Staff, you will engage with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and have the opportunity to make a significant difference in their lives. Your role will involve providing supervision and support during various daily activities, including personal care, social integration, and community involvement. You will also coach, motivate, and educate individuals throughout their daily experiences.

Job Overview

Residential Support Staff work closely with one to three individuals with disabilities, either in their own homes or in residences provided by Community Intersections. Your responsibilities will include assisting or training individuals in areas identified by their support teams to enhance their independence in daily living skills. We are seeking full-time staff to support adults with developmental disabilities in their homes and communities.

Full-time staff will work in the homes of the individuals we serve, with shifts structured to allow for rest periods. Shifts typically involve working for two consecutive days with designated sleep hours in a private room.


Essential Duties:
  • Engage with assigned individuals according to a structured weekly schedule.
  • Teach and model necessary skills as outlined in each person’s Service Plan.
  • Facilitate connections and relationships within the local community.
  • Encourage responsible decision-making by the individuals we support.
  • Document daily interactions, including contact notes, ISSP Data Tracking, and Incident Reports, while assisting with any required assessments or paperwork.
  • Provide assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, meal preparation, lifting, positioning, and transferring.
  • Assist with household maintenance tasks, including cleaning, laundry, and shopping.
  • Report any concerns or issues regarding the individuals to your supervisor.
  • Complete all required training and attend departmental meetings to enhance knowledge of programs and individuals served.
  • Perform physical tasks, including bending, reaching, and lifting a minimum of 50 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 200 pounds.
  • Attend team meetings as necessary and coordinate transportation or training for individuals to access their community.
  • Maintain open communication with individuals, family members, and funding sources.
  • Adhere to the company’s guiding principles: Teamwork, Communication, and Respect.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A criminal background check must be completed in accordance with state regulations.
  • A valid driver’s license and liability insurance are required.
  • Three positive references, with at least two from previous employers.
  • Strong communication skills for sharing written and verbal information with the support team.
  • Proficiency in the area of support needed by the individual served, such as cooking skills if required.
Benefits & Compensation:
  • Hiring Bonus: $250 after 30 days of employment and an additional $250 after six months for both full-time and part-time employees.
