Mission Statement:
The Salvation Army is a global movement, part of the universal Christian Church, dedicated to spreading the message of the Bible. Our ministry is driven by love for God, aiming to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and address human needs without discrimination.
Basic Purpose:
The primary role of this position is to ensure that the Stockton Corps facilities are maintained in a clean and organized manner. This includes regular food donation pickups and fostering positive relationships with various social service agencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect food donations from local businesses and restaurants while adhering to food safety standards.
- Regularly coordinate and gather food and bread donations.
- Assist with the transportation, unloading, and storage of donated food items.
- Manage waste disposal by emptying trash and garbage containers.
- Perform light maintenance and minor repairs as directed by Corp Officers.
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicles, including washing and checking fluid levels.
- Report any vehicle maintenance needs or safety hazards to management.
- Move furniture, supplies, and equipment as necessary.
- Conduct routine security checks, such as locking doors and turning off lights.
- Stock restroom and kitchen supplies as needed.
- Prepare food for distribution according to the schedule set by the office manager.
- Complete errands as assigned by the Office Manager and Corp Officers, ensuring timely execution.
- During seasonal events, assist with community activities as directed by Corp Officers.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a High School Diploma or GED, or have one to three months of related experience or training. Candidates must be at least 21 years old and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
A valid CA Driver License is required. Candidates should be willing to undergo training related to hazardous materials handling and adhere to environmental compliance standards.
Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is essential. Candidates must be able to follow oral and written instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be capable of performing physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Good mobility and dexterity are necessary for operating cleaning and groundskeeping equipment.
