Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

Effectively manages daily operations and patient flow within the imaging department. Responsible for assessing and coordinating staffing requirements. Ensures adequate inventory of patient care supplies to support clinical, service, fiscal, and employee excellence. Collaborates with fellow supervisors to achieve departmental goals and works closely with management to address emerging issues.

POPULATION SERVED:

Core competencies will be evaluated primarily on the following patient demographics: neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Operates CT imaging equipment to capture scans of specified body areas. Adjusts equipment and patient positioning for each examination while providing clear instructions to patients.
  • Conducts data reconstruction and specialized processing. Reviews completed radiographs/scans for accuracy in positioning, technique, and examination quality.
  • Monitors patients closely, providing first aid as necessary, and consults with physicians when examinations appear inconsistent with patient conditions.
  • Performs clerical duties including exam input/editing, report submissions, and requisition completion.
  • Maintains accurate records on EHR, PACS, and logs, ensuring correct identification of exams, including laterality and radiological factors.
  • Exhibits exemplary customer service and adheres to ICARE principles.
  • Arranges immobilization devices to ensure precise positioning, prevent motion, and enhance patient comfort.
  • Stays informed on advancements in diagnostic CT techniques through professional development activities.
  • Practices sterile techniques to prevent cross-contamination and maintains cleanliness in all areas, including equipment and personnel.
  • Follows established Radiation Safety standards and participates in safety and process improvement initiatives.
  • Records hours worked in compliance with hospital attendance policies.
  • Provides leadership and supervision to technical staff, ensuring high-quality radiologic output. Oversees non-technical staff to maintain efficient workflow and quality performance.
  • Participates in the hiring process, including interviewing candidates and making recommendations for employment actions in collaboration with the Director.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and addresses staffing issues in accordance with Positive Performance guidelines.
  • Ensures a well-organized and regulatory-compliant environment within the imaging department.
  • Monitors the condition and maintenance of diagnostic equipment, documenting issues and coordinating with service organizations for repairs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS (Required)

  • ARRT Registration as a Radiologic Technologist with CT certification.
  • Texas State License as MRT.
  • Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) from the American Heart Association (AHA).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
  • Proficient in axial anatomy with experience in specialized procedures such as biopsies and drainages.
  • Preferred: Three years of supervisory experience.
