Position Overview

The Financial Analyst II role is a pivotal mid-level position responsible for comprehensive financial and project management tasks within one of WestEd's divisions, reporting directly to a Senior Financial Analyst.

The responsibilities encompass data analysis, budgeting, financial modeling, reporting, accounting, cost control, and in-depth financial assessments. This position is primarily accountable for project-level budgeting, planning, forecasting, variance analysis, spend down, and financial reporting. Additionally, the Financial Analyst II will contribute to division-level financial projects and management initiatives.

Key Responsibilities


- Collaborate closely with Senior Financial Analysts to enhance data analysis and financial reporting, aligning with the agency's strategic and operational objectives.

- Design, prepare, and analyze both project-level and division-level financial reports, including variance analysis and consolidated reporting.

- Provide critical insights to the finance team to inform business decisions, identify issues, and recognize opportunities for ongoing quality enhancement.

- Develop and manage project budgets in partnership with Project Directors, ensuring thorough monthly budget reviews and forecasts.

- Create financial reports that emphasize key metrics supporting WestEd's strategic goals.

- Identify opportunities to streamline financial reporting processes and recommend system enhancements.

- Evaluate current business processes and propose improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency across divisions.

- Prepare financial and contractual documentation for business proposals, ensuring clarity in financial guidelines for spending and billing.

- Support Project Directors in managing subcontracts and tracking deliverables, coordinating with Accounts Receivable for invoicing.

- Achieve proficiency in Business Intelligence software, Cognos, and budgeting systems like Adaptive Insight.

Qualifications


- Bachelor's degree or higher in finance/accounting with 3-5 years of relevant experience.

- Extensive knowledge of financial analysis, modeling, reporting, and budget management.

- Strong fiscal management skills, with a focus on improving business practices.

- Proficient in analyzing financial data using various tools.

- Ability to construct complex financial models and support strategic planning.

- Detail-oriented with a broad organizational perspective.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a diverse environment.

- Self-motivated and capable of leading projects while being a strong team player.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, with experience in database querying and report writing.

- Interest in applying corporate practices within the non-profit sector.

Salary and Benefits


The salary range for this position is $78,800 to $118,200, with typical hiring around $78,800 to $98,500, considering various factors such as education and experience.

In addition to the base salary, benefits include:

  • 15% retirement contribution from day one

  • Health/welfare benefits effective the first of the month following hire

PTO: 3 weeks vacation (increasing to 4 weeks after the 4th year), paid holidays, and 12 days paid sick leave annually.
