Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuously and proactively enhance the customer experience by simplifying processes.
  • Oversee the architectural design and technical decision-making for SQL Server components, ensuring they align with product objectives and engineering standards.
  • Develop and implement intricate features and enhancements within SQL Server and MongoDB, focusing on performance, scalability, and security.
  • Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements and convert them into technical specifications.
  • Lead and expand a team of skilled data engineers tasked with maintaining current data platforms, creating new data products, and modernizing our data infrastructure.
  • Assess, recruit, and onboard candidates based on the organization's needs, technical abilities, and cultural compatibility.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, offering technical insights, code reviews, and best practices to promote professional development.
  • Analyze SQL and MongoDB environments and develop plans to enhance the data architecture and infrastructure, ensuring engineers can operate efficiently.
  • Utilize monitoring tools to guarantee high performance and availability; collaborate with operations and engineering to implement improvements as necessary.
  • Ensure that new developments adhere to company standards for readability, reliability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on both transactional and analytical schema designs.
  • Partner with software and DevOps engineers to create scalable services, plan feature rollouts, and maintain high reliability and performance of our products.
  • Design and construct comprehensive services, including data modeling, storage solutions, message brokers, protocols, and interfaces.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.
  • 6-8 years of relevant professional experience in Data Engineering, particularly in supporting or building the database tier of data-driven SaaS applications.
  • 2 years of experience as an Operational DBA (in a dedicated or hybrid role).
  • 3-5 years of experience managing a team of engineers.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
  • Strong professional background in relational database modeling and experience in developing high-performance data-driven transactional applications.
  • Extensive experience in analyzing SQL queries for performance issues and optimizing them systematically.
  • Solid SQL and data-layer development experience, including OLTP schema design.
  • Expertise in SQL query execution fundamentals and optimization principles.
  • Experience in maintaining and extending existing codebases, adapting to established patterns, and tracing code execution paths.
  • Familiarity with implementing ETL workflows (SSIS, Airflow, C#, Python).
  • Experience with cloud services integration, particularly AWS RDS, S3, SQS, and SNS.
  • Experience in integrating SQL and NoSQL (MongoDB) data stores.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in OLAP schema design.
  • Experience in developing unit and integration tests using DBT or similar tools.
